  • The idea came from 2005 Nintendo game, 押忍!闘え!応援団.
  • The game got released in 2007.
  • Osu's beatmaps slowly evolved over time without a dramatic changes, establishing a solid theory about making beatmaps.
  • As the legal issues around the songs arises, Featured Artists program got initiated which encourges the beatmappers to use the licensed songs.
  • In 2011, the first osu! world cup took place.
  • It was originally popular among Asian countries like Japan, Korea, Taiwan; but later around 2015, it took on in USA and Europe and it is growing ever since.
